Volleyball Recap: Brainerd's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Brainerd can bid farewell to their four-match losing streak thanks to their match on Tuesday. They blew past the Apollo Eagles 3-0. The Warriors not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 3, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Brainerd took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-10, 25-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brainerd to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evelyn Hagen, who had nine assists and three aces. That's the most aces Hagen has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia White, who had seven digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Brainerd was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Brainerd's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 4-19. As for Apollo, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brainerd will welcome Bemidji at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apollo, they will square off against Becker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
