Basketball Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

Gilbert was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Lakeview Warriors, falling 79-34. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 81-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lakeview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Gollow, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points. DJ Willenbrock was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 15 points.

Gilbert's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Lakeview, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Gilbert will take on Shepaug Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Lakeview, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-57 win against New Milford on the 18th.
