Football Recap: Western Takes Down Hialeah Gardens in a Playoff Battle

Western had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 32-12 margin over the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Western didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cherrish Huggins and TT McFadden. McFadden got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Hialeah Gardens took the loss, they still got scores from Sophie Arteaga and Carolyn Lebroc.

Western has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.6 points on average over those games. As for Hialeah Gardens, they moved to 11-4 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.

Coming up, Western will square off against Spanish River at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' defense has only allowed 7.4 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. Hialeah Gardens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
