Isle of Wight Academy won the last time they faced Portsmouth Christian and things went their way on Monday too. The Chargers walked away with a 3-1 win over the Patriots.

Isle of Wight Academy was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 24-26, 25-14, 25-9.

Kirbie Edwards paced Isle of Wight Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Edwards got some help from Christina Petruzalek and her 22 assists. Petruzalek was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Isle of Wight Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Portsmouth Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Isle of Wight Academy and Portsmouth Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Chargers will square off against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (197 vs. 15). Meanwhile, Portsmouth Christian (ranked 325th) will meet Denbigh Baptist Christian (ranked 79th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
