Baseball Recap: Robertsdale Finds Home Field Redemption Against St. Michael Catholic

There's no place like home for Robertsdale, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the St. Michael Catholic Cardinals on Thursday. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Robertsdale got a great performance from Jackson Lyles as he struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Robertsdale is 2-1 when Lyles allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Waylon Bell was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Swyndle Pierce was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Robertsdale's record is now 7-9. As for St. Michael Catholic, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.

Coming up, Robertsdale will look to defend their home field on Monday against Charles Henderson at 4:30 p.m. As for St. Michael Catholic, they will challenge Bayshore Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
