Basketball Recap: Gabe Coleman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cumberland Christian Home Educators over Providence Athletic Club

Cumberland Christian Home Educators was the 56-48 winner over Providence Athletic Club when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Cumberland Christian Home Educators Hawks fell just short of the Providence Athletic Club Panthers by a score of 52-50 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hawks have suffered since February 7th.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabe Coleman, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Coleman has been hot, having also posted three or more blocks the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Aiden Drew, who posted 14 points and eight boards.

Providence Athletic Club's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rex Reiser, who scored nine points. What's more, Reiser posted two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Brody Tyler was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

The loss snapped Cumberland Christian Home Educators' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 24-15 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points over those games. As for Providence Athletic Club, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.

Cumberland Christian Home Educators didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 75-51 defeat against South Wake on the 5th. As for Providence Athletic Club, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-48 win against Summit Christian Academy on the 5th.
