Baseball Recap: Pine Forest Has No Trouble Against Triton

Pine Forest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Triton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trojans blew past the Hawks 11-4 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Temple and Ja'Lynn Thomas made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Temple tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Thomas pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Temple has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Temple scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Thomas scored a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jayhlen Brown was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Kaydyn Thomas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pine Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.

Pine Forest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Triton, their record is now 8-7.

Pine Forest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
