Basketball Recap: Union City Wins Going Away Against Centerville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ansonia, Union City was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 40-31 victory over the Centerville Bulldogs. The contest marked the Indians' most dominant win of the season so far.

Union City had a senior duo take command as Oaklee Reichard dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards and Gabrielle Ordonez posted 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Reichard a new career-high in blocks (two). Campbell Kerns was another key player, putting up three points and ten rebounds.

Union City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centerville only pulled down seven offensive boards.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taelynn Swartz, who put up eight points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hunter, who had eight points.

Union City's record now sits at 3-6. As for Centerville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Union City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-48 loss against Knightstown on the 14th. As for Centerville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-42 defeat against New Castle on the 17th.
