Basketball Game Preview: Sebring Blue Streaks vs. Lake Wales Highlanders

Sebring is 1-9 against Lake Wales since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Sebring Blue Streaks just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lake Wales Highlanders at 8:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Thursday, Sebring came up short against DeSoto County and fell 60-50. While losing is never fun, the Blue Streaks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 115th).

Despite the loss, Sebring got top-tier performance from Molly Jane Zwayer, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 boards. Zwayer is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Adriana Maldonado was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Meanwhile, Lake Wales unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Lake Mary.

Sebring's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Lake Wales, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Sebring ended up a good deal behind Lake Wales when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 55-37. Can Sebring avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
