Meanwhile, West-Oak had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Highlands on Friday as West-Oak made off with a 61-41 win. Given West-Oak's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in South Carolina, while Highlands is ranked 305th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West-Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harry Burgess, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Kaliski, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists.
Calhoun Falls Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for West-Oak, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
