Carrollton triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Lauren Flowers

Recap: Carrollton Hawks vs. Pleasant Hill/Western Wolves

The Carrollton Hawks waltzed into their matchup Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over Pleasant Hill/Western. Given Carrollton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while Pleasant Hill/Western is ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Lauren Flowers, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Carrollton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Darr, who scored five points along with eight steals.

Carrollton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Pleasant Hill/Western, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.

Carrollton will be home for the holidays to greet Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Pleasant Hill/Western will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia at 11:00 a.m. on December 26th.
