The biggest upset of the week belonged to Northampton County, who took down 307th ranked Gates County, 35-13.
The Jaguars moved up to 262 from 328 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A Tar-Roanoke. Northampton County climbed the ranks as a result of a 35-13 win over the Red Barons.
The Jaguars' Keion Crossen and Diyosha McGee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Crossen has thrown for 226 yards this season, while McGee, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has five catches for 143 yards. Southeast Halifax's Jaquez McDaniel leads the league in rushing yards with 710.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Northampton County takes on North Edgecombe. The Jaguars are in first place, while the Warriors are in fifth place.
Northampton County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Tar-Roanoke this week by beating Gates County, 35-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Jaguars.
