Softball Game Preview: Hammond Morton Governors vs. Merrillville Pirates

The Hammond Morton Governors will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Merrillville Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hammond Morton is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Highland on Saturday, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Merrillville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 19-1 to Griffith.

Everything went Hammond Morton's way against Merrillville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Hammond Morton made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Governors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
