Basketball Game Preview: Galesburg Silver Streaks vs. Alleman Pioneers

Galesburg and Alleman are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Galesburg Silver Streaks will head out to challenge the Alleman Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Galesburg is headed into Thursday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-38 heartbreaker at the hands of Pekin. The game marked the Silver Streaks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Alleman won against Rochelle two weeks ago with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Alleman blew past Rock Falls, posting a 53-23 victory. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Alleman pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Galesburg, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.

Galesburg came up short against Alleman when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 51-38. Can Galesburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
