Football Recap: Bowie Bulldogs vs. Manor Mustangs
Bowie had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Manor Mustangs with a sharp 60-34 victory. With the Bulldogs ahead 37-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Bowie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cruz Tello out in front who threw for 144 yards and five touchdowns. Bowie also got a significant boost from Rhys Moreno, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Bowie's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Joaquin Tijerina and Reagan Cooper. Cooper is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made eight or more in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season.
Manor lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Clark, who picked up 186 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Clark torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 83 yards. Camden Huff was another key player, throwing for 341 yards and three touchdowns.
Bowie will face off against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manor, they will square off against Harker Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manor will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
