Football Game Preview: Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton Eagles vs. Southwestern Trojans

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton is 1-6 against Southwestern since September of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton took a 49-point loss the last time they faced off against Clymer Central/Sherman/Panama, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wolfpack 14-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden Gibbs, who threw for 209 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 54 yards. The Eagles' leading receiver Devin Hewes was Gibbs' top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and one score.

Southwestern played against Griffith Institute on Friday and won via forfeit.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.

Everything came up roses for Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton against Southwestern in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 28-0 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
