Football Recap: Argyle Eagles vs. Lovejoy Leopards
Argyle extended their postseason success on Friday against Lovejoy. They put the hurt on the Lovejoy Leopards with a sharp 42-17 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.
Argyle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maguire Gasperson out in front who threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown. 113 of Gasperson's passing yards were hauled in by Julian Caldwell, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Argyle wouldn't let Lovejoy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Argyle can thank Xavier Sanchez and Garrett Westrom for forcing all of them. Those two forced fumbles gave Sanchez a new career-high. Argyle got some further help from Maxwell Bland: he picked up a sack, made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Lovejoy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daylan McCutcheon, who picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown.
