Football Recap: Argyle Extends Winning Streak to 13

Argyle extended their postseason success on Friday against Lovejoy. They put the hurt on the Lovejoy Leopards with a sharp 42-17 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Argyle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maguire Gasperson out in front who threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes, and also rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown. 113 of Gasperson's passing yards were hauled in by Julian Caldwell, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Argyle wouldn't let Lovejoy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. Argyle can thank Xavier Sanchez and Garrett Westrom for forcing all of them. Those two forced fumbles gave Sanchez a new career-high. Argyle got some further help from Maxwell Bland: he picked up a sack, made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Lovejoy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daylan McCutcheon, who picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The victory was the 13th in a row for Argyle, bringing their record for this year to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.3 points per game. As for Lovejoy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Argyle will take on South Oak Cliff at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. South Oak Cliff knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Argyle likes a good challenge. Lovejoy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
