Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Starts Season with Win Against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART

Arrupe Jesuit had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls to the tune of 79-22 on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-19.

Arrupe Jesuit's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mario Cabrera, who went 8-for-15 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Cabrera is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Louie Garcia, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Arrupe Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain Prep SMART only posted five.

Arrupe Jesuit has already played their next matchup, a 56-44 victory against Clear Creek on the 9th. As for Rocky Mountain Prep SMART, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-38 defeat against Aurora West College Prep Academy on the 9th.
