Softball Recap: Marquette Beats Midland for Their Second Straight Win

Marquette won against Putnam County on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Crusaders never let the Midland Timberwolves get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Taylor Cuchra, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Kealey Rick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Marquette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midland only posted an OBP of .158.

The win made it two in a row for Marquette and bumps their season record up to 21-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Midland, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Marquette will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Timberwolves: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
