Softball Game Preview: Oelwein Huskies vs. Columbus Sailors

The Oelwein Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Columbus Sailors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Oelwein is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Wapsie Valley just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Huskies couldn't push the score so high this time.

Columbus hadn't beaten Hudson on the road since May 24, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Sailors won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sailors have posted since May 29, 2024.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Oelwein, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Oelwein took their win against Columbus in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
