Basketball Recap: Purvis Comes Up Short

Purvis lost against Lawrence County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Purvis Tornadoes were outmatched by the Lawrence County Cougars and fell 63-26. The Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Despite the defeat, Purvis saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noa Bolar posted 13 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Robinson, who earned six points along with 12 boards and four blocks.

Purvis' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8. As for Lawrence County, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Sumrall the next time they take the court. Lawrence County will head out to face Sumrall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Purvis will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th.
