Softball Recap: Liberty's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Liberty dropped their record down to 17-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Pleasant Hill Wolves by a score of 2-1. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Liberty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Dietrich, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Pleasant Hill, their win bumped their record up to 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 22, 2024.

On Pleasant Hill's side, Ava Wombles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Wombles has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Coming up, Liberty will host Griggsville-Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pleasant Hill, they will welcome Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
