Basketball Recap: Roma Comes Up Short

If Roma was riding high fresh off their 47-23 takedown of Juarez-Lincoln last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Roma Gladiators took a blow against the Cigarroa Toros on Friday, falling 59-32. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gladiators of the 57-49 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Roma lost, don't look at Virgina Kernz. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 8 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kernz a new career-high in points.

Roma has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Cigarroa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Roma will take on Mission in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cigarroa and Mission Veterans Memorial will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th.
