Basketball Recap: Irvine Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Irvine can now relate to. They fell to the St. Bonaventure Seraphs 66-60. While the Vaqueros didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Seraphs 18-12 in the first quarter.

Leading St. Bonaventure to victory were Mathew Wilson and Charlie Adams. Wilson went 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and four steals, while Adams went 10-for-18 en route to 22 points. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Walter Moore was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 29-3. As for St. Bonaventure, their victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-6.

Irvine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Bonaventure, they will face off against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th. St. Bonaventure knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 contests -- so hopefully Canyon likes a good challenge.
