Softball Recap: Blanchester's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Blanchester dropped their record down to 12-10 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They lost 22-5 to Williamsburg. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Blanchester has suffered since April 16th.

Alayna Davenport was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Tatum Strange was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Williamsburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Williamsburg's side, the team relied heavily on Kaylynn Anderkin, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave Anderkin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Johnson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Blanchester and Williamsburg are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will host Clermont Northeastern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Blanchester's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Williamsburg, they will challenge Madeira at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
