Softball Recap: Mount View Has No Trouble Against River View

Mount View won the last time they faced River View and things went their way on Monday too. The Golden Knights blew past the Raiders 21-3. Considering the Golden Knights have won 14 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Phoebe Dudgeon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mount View got a massive performance out of Shiann Carter, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Carter a new career-high. Malayah Barnes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Mount View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River View only posted a batting average of .167.

The win made it two in a row for Mount View and bumps their season record up to 17-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for River View, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Mount View will welcome Montcalm at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Knights are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. River View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
