Football Game Preview: Edison Eagles vs. Colonia Patriots

The Edison Eagles will head out to challenge the Colonia Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Edison is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 33-28 to Franklin on Friday.

Meanwhile, Colonia took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-18 win over Perth Amboy. The contest marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season.

Colonia's win came from a few key players Edison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kyle Bell, who rushed for 86 yards and two scores. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles. Rj Wortman was in the mix too, providing Colonia with two touchdowns.

Colonia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Colonia, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wortman, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Colonia's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2. As for Edison, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Edison didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Colonia in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
