Cardinal Gibbons lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wakefield, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Cardinal Gibbons never let Wakefield get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Jack Richards and Damon Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Richards scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Phillips scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Cardinal Gibbons is undefeated when Phillips posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Graham Virag was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Cardinal Gibbons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Enloe entered their contest against East Chapel Hill on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Enloe fell just short of East Chapel Hill by a score of 3-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Malhar Shelke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Dylan Hazen was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Cardinal Gibbons' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Enloe, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cardinal Gibbons has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Enloe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cardinal Gibbons skirted past Enloe 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Cardinal Gibbons repeat their success, or does Enloe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
