Softball Recap: Germantown Starts Season with Win Against Brookfield East

Germantown had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Brookfield East Spartans 3-2. The Warhawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans on Thursday, too.

Kylie Otto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madison Werner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kayla Preiss, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Brookfield East's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Germantown and Brookfield East will both be playing Menomonee Falls the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warhawks will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
