Recap: Bartlett Panthers vs. Southwind Jaguars

In what's become a running theme this season, the Bartlett Panthers gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-21 victory over Southwind. Given Bartlett's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Southwind is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bartlett's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaylin Sheffield led the charge by scoring ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Rixter, who scored nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Southwind lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ari'elle Stinson. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southwind struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Bartlett has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. As for Southwind, they dropped their record down to 9-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bartlett won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Memphis Business Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Memphis Business Academy will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Bartlett surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwind, they will head out on the road to take on Houston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Southwind focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
