Basketball Recap: Grace Prep Takes a Loss

Grace Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Columbia County Christian and fell 69-34. The matchup marked Grace Prep's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Columbia County Christian found their leader in sophomore Pierce Cughan, who went 14 of 23 en route to 33 points and eight steals. Cughan's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Eli Lenker was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points.

Grace Prep now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Columbia County Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Grace Prep will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Columbia County Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. As for Columbia County Christian, they will host New Covenant Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia County Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully New Covenant Academy likes a good challenge.
