Basketball Recap: Rochester Zebras vs. Winamac Warriors
Rochester had taken Winamac down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Zebras lost to the Warriors at home by a 62-48 margin. The Zebras were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.
Winamac's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaybin Hines, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Hines is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Justin Potthoff was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.
Rochester's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Winamac, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Looking ahead, Rochester will take on North Judson-San Pierre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winamac, they will welcome Knox at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
