Sumner Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand the Atchison Phoenix a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Sumner Academy, who have now won seven contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Sumner Academy pushed their record up to 8-0-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Atchison, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Sumner Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Washington on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Atchison will square off against rival Harmon on Tuesday.
