It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Borden had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 64-26 win over the South Decatur Cougars. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Borden to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Hart, who went 6-for-7 en route to 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals Hart has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wheeler, who shot 64% from the field on her way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds.
Borden was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Decatur only one assist.
Makalya Somers and Taylor Somers certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Makalya put up 14 points, while Taylor earned six points and five boards.
Borden has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points over those games. South Decatur moved to 16-12 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Borden has already played their next contest, a 65-41 victory against Northeast Dubois on the 22nd. South Decatur does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
