Soccer Game Preview: Sahuaro vs. Canyon del Oro

The Sahuaro Cougars will face off against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sahuaro's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Sahuaro fell victim to Ironwood Ridge and their airtight defense on Monday. They lost 4-0 to the Nighthawks. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon del Oro). Their defense stepped up to hand Vista Grande a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Taylor Cramblit as she scored three goals for her team.

The victory was the third in a row for Canyon del Oro, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those three games. As for Sahuaro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Sahuaro might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Canyon del Oro in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sahuaro was down 4-0.
