The Carlsbad Lancers will be taking part in a tournament against the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Mission Hills will be up against a hot Carlsbad squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Carlsbad walked away with a 7-3 win over Maranatha Christian on Tuesday.

Ian Fisher looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayden Mu?oz, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Rob Bering, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Mission Hills suffered their biggest defeat since May 3, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 9-1 to San Marcos.

Mission Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Mecucci, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Mission Hills dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Carlsbad, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Carlsbad's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Carlsbad has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mission Hills, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Carlsbad continue to outrun the ball?

Carlsbad was able to grind out a solid win over Mission Hills in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 6-3. Will Carlsbad repeat their success, or does Mission Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
