Baseball Recap: Cardinal Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Cardinal and Albia, and Albia kept the tradition alive. The Comets fell just short of the Blue Demons by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Demons earlier this season, when they won 17-1.

Cardinal's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Albia, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Cardinal will be playing in front of their home fans against Chariton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Comets have won six straight at home, while the Chargers won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Albia has already played their next match (against Martensdale-St. Mary's), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
