Recap: Richard Montgomery Rockets vs. Churchill Bulldogs
The Richard Montgomery Rockets pushed their score all the way to 50 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Churchill at home by a decisive 64-50 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Richard Montgomery in their matchups with Churchill: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Richard Montgomery still got an impressive performance from Anthony Dixon jr, who threw for 412 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Dixon jr is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Khalil Wilson, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
David Avit got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Avit is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Richard Montgomery has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Churchill, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richard Montgomery will challenge Gaithersburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Gaithersburg's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Richard Montgomery has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for Churchill, they will face off against Walter Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
