Softball Recap: Nettleton Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Nettleton waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Batesville Pioneers by a score of 9-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Kennedy Massey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nettleton let Sydney Huntsman and Jayla Smith run wild. Huntsman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Smith went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Those four hits gave Smith a new career-high. Avery Sample was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Nettleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Nettleton's record is now 6-14. As for Batesville, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

As of now, neither Nettleton nor the Pioneers have any future games scheduled.
