Basketball Preview: Falcon Falcons vs. The Classical Academy Titans
After three games on the road, Falcon is heading back home. They and The Classical Academy Titans will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Falcon will be strutting in after a win while the Titans will be coming in after a defeat.
On Saturday, Falcon didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Grizzlies, but they still walked away with a 39-34 win.
Falcon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Howard out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Howard has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Black, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, The Classical Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 53-44 to Fountain-Fort Carson. The Classical Academy has not had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Falcon is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for The Classical Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Falcon came up short against the Titans when the teams last played back in January, falling 50-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of The Classical Academy's Alaina Bonacquista, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals. Now that Falcon knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
