Baseball Recap: Murrieta Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Chaparral

Murrieta Valley's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Chaparral on Friday. The Nighthawks walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Pumas. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Murrieta Valley got a great performance from Grant Johnson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Brady Norman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Diesel Douglas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Murrieta Valley's record now sits at 7-17. As for Chaparral, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Murrieta Valley will venture away from home to take on Temecula Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Chaparral, they will host Vista Murrieta at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Pumas surely won't give up without a fight.
