Basketball Game Preview: Russellville Panthers vs. Ohio County Eagles

The Russellville Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Ohio County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Russellville has now lost 18 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 16.

It was a proper cat-fight when Russellville challenged Edmonson County on Monday. Russellville took a blow against Edmonson County, falling 74-28. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 74th).

Meanwhile, Ohio County won against Hancock County on Monday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Ohio County beat Hancock County by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 46-42. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Ohio County pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Russellville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-23.

Russellville was dealt a bruising 72-38 loss at the hands of Ohio County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Russellville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
