Preview: Central Christian Cougars vs. Macksville Mustangs
Central Christian is 0-5 against Macksville since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Central Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Macksville Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. Central Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Central Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-27 loss to Little River. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Christian in their matchups with Little River: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Macksville unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by South Gray 78-38. While losing is never fun, Macksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while South Gray is ranked eighth).
Macksville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Diego Esparza, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Kendall Grippin who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. The match was Esparza's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
The losses dropped Central Christian to 0-4 and Little River to 2-2.
Central Christian was taken down by Macksville 65-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Central Christian, Ryan Kuckelman (who scored 19 points along with 4 blocks and 3 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
