Baseball Game Preview: Lakeside Christian Lions vs. Admiral Farragut BlueJackets

The Lakeside Christian Lions will challenge the Admiral Farragut BlueJackets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lakeside Christian blew Oasis Christian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Oasis Christian got their revenge. Lakeside Christian fell just short of Oasis Christian by a score of 11-9.

Zachary Chichester was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Gooch, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Admiral Farragut started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Keswick Christian. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the BlueJackets in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost six in a row.

Admiral Farragut saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeffrey Crain, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Crain has become a key player for Admiral Farragut: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 2-6 otherwise. Athan Davis was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Lakeside Christian now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Admiral Farragut, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lakeside Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Admiral Farragut struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Lakeside Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Admiral Farragut when the teams last played back in February, sneaking past 6-5. Will Lakeside Christian repeat their success, or does Admiral Farragut has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
