Basketball Recap: Amity Regional Takes a Loss

The Amity Regional Spartans lost 80-59 to the Torrington Raiders on Tuesday. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 18-11 in the first quarter.

Torrington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Tucciarone, who almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Tucciarone a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris De La Cruz, who went 10-for-15 to rack up 23 points.

Amity Regional now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Torrington, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.

Coming up, Amity Regional will head out to challenge Wilbur Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wilbur Cross has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 224 points over their last three matchups. Torrington has already played their next contest (against Naugatuck), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
