Softball Recap: Moravia Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Moravia barely beat Marathon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils blew past the Olympians 12-2 on Wednesday. Considering the Blue Devils have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Taleigh Sheppard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Moravia got a massive performance out of Davida Jackson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Jackson has posted since back in April. Ella Green was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Moravia is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Marathon, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Moravia will challenge Newfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marathon, they will venture away from home to take on Afton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Olympians surely won't give up without a fight.
