Baseball Recap: Corry Comes Up Short

If Corry was riding high fresh off their 13-5 takedown of North East on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Beavers fell 6-2 to the Slippery Rock Rockets on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Beavers of the 9-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2019.

Kamdyn Moon was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. Corry is 3-1 when Moon posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise.

Corry has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Slippery Rock, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corry will host Conneaut Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Beavers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Slippery Rock, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grove City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
