Softball Recap: Ledyard Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ledyard extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 12-8. Everything went their way against the Griswold Wolverines as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Colonels, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alexia Lemmon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alana Ninteau was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Mia Starling also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Ledyard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

As for Griswold, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Griswold's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelynn Walters, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

As of now, neither Ledyard nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
