Basketball Recap: Orangewood Christian Takes a Loss

Orangewood Christian and Faith Christian squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Orangewood Christian had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Faith Christian Lions and fell 71-38. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 629th, while the Lions are ranked 265th).

When it comes to explaining why Orangewood Christian lost, don't look at Noah Rigg. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Rigg has posted since back in December of 2024. Will Vargas was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Orangewood Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

The loss snapped Orangewood Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-14 record. As for Faith Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.

Orangewood Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Faith Christian has also already played their next contest, an 84-53 defeat against The First Academy on the 5th.
