Softball Recap: Hicks Drops Highest Score of Season Against Minden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hicks). Everything went their way against the Minden Crimson Tide on Saturday as Hicks made off with a 20-2 victory. Considering the Pirates have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Katie-Grace Quinn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Destiny Hickman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Hicks is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Minden and nudges their season record down to 8-14-1.

Hicks has already played their next contest, a 17-3 loss against D'Arbonne Woods on the 29th. As for Minden, they will host Summerfield at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
